Footasylum, the UK-based footwear and sportswear retailer known for its youth-focused streetwear offerings, has taken a significant step in its international growth strategy by signing a strategic expansion agreement with the Dubai-headquartered Apparel Group. This partnership marks Footasylum’s first physical retail presence outside the United Kingdom.
Under the multi-channel deal, Footasylum plans to launch up to 40 stores across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) over the next five years. Targeted markets include the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman, with rollout across wholesale, franchise and e-commerce channels.
The move gives Footasylum access to Apparel Group’s extensive regional retail infrastructure and customer base, including its more than 2,500 stores and over 14 million Club Apparel loyalty members. The partnership is designed to accelerate Footasylum’s entry into key Middle East fashion markets while leveraging the Group’s operational expertise and omnichannel capabilities.
Footasylum CEO David Pujolar described the deal as a “major step forward” in scaling the brand internationally, adding that the collaboration will significantly boost its momentum beyond the UK’s digital channels into brick-and-mortar retail in the Gulf. Apparel Group CEO Neeraj Teckchandani emphasized that Footasylum’s youth-centric and culturally relevant fashion aligns well with consumer tastes across the GCC.
This expansion underscores Footasylum’s ambition to become a global streetwear and sportswear destination, tapping into one of the world’s fastest-growing retail regions with high spending potential and strong demand for lifestyle brands.
