Share Post

The first phase of infrastructure development at the PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Park in Amravati, Maharashtra has been successfully completed, marking a major milestone in India’s efforts to strengthen its textile manufacturing ecosystem.

Spread across around 1,020 acres, the textile park has developed key infrastructure facilities including roads, drainage systems, underground cabling, street lighting, and water supply networks. These essential utilities are expected to make the park ready for industrial units and investors looking to set up textile and apparel manufacturing operations.

Government Push and Project Progress

During a recent visit, Union Textile Secretary Neelam Shami Rao reviewed the progress and expressed satisfaction with the pace of development. The completion of Phase 1 infrastructure reflects the government’s commitment to accelerating large-scale textile infrastructure projects under the PM MITRA scheme.

The park is being developed as part of India’s broader strategy to create integrated textile hubs that bring together the entire value chain—from spinning and weaving to processing and garment manufacturing—within a single location.

Future Plans and Investment Potential

Looking ahead, the project includes plans for a 100-acre solar power plant, which will support sustainable and cost-efficient energy supply within the park. Additionally, a Dutch company is set to invest in a cotton processing and research & development centre over 66 acres, further strengthening the park’s industrial capabilities.

The PM MITRA park in Amravati is expected to attract significant investments and generate large-scale employment opportunities, contributing to regional economic development in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra.

Role in India’s Textile Growth Strategy

The Amravati park is one of the seven mega textile parks planned under the PM MITRA scheme, which aims to attract around ₹70,000 crore in investments and create nearly 20 lakh jobs nationwide.

These parks are designed to improve efficiency, reduce logistics costs, and enhance global competitiveness by offering plug-and-play infrastructure and integrated supply chains.

Industry Impact

The completion of infrastructure at the Amravati PM MITRA Textile Park is expected to:

  • Accelerate industrial development in central India

  • Strengthen India’s position as a global textile manufacturing hub

  • Encourage domestic and foreign investments

  • Generate employment across the textile value chain

With infrastructure now in place, the project is moving closer to becoming a key textile and apparel production hub, supporting India’s long-term vision of boosting exports and manufacturing competitiveness.
